These photos were shot using the Sony RX 100VII because my DSLR has been having some uploading difficulties and I didn’t want to risk photos not uploading. Most of these were taken at the San Diego Zoo. I thought that would be the best way to get creatures from “all over the world” without actually traveling much. I had a lot of fun taking these photos, and I’ll continue to take photos of animals. I do want to practice taking portraits of people though.
Due to technical difficulties, I had to shoot these on my Sony point and shoot camera. I shot these in April 2021. This photo story depicts me putting on lipgloss, something I do everyday. I have no idea why putting on lipgloss makes me feel so happy, but it always has ever since I was a kid. I guess part of the reason is because it makes you look a bit more put together with minimal effort. I have so many different types, but my lipgloss of choice for these photos was Becca’s Liptuitive Glow Gloss.
I try to do my beauty rituals in natural light and near some type of nature, hence the location: by the window surrounded by flowers. This is as important as the lipgloss itself for making me feel happy. Sunlight always rejuvenates me, and flowers bring a sense of aliveness to a room. The whole experience, though simple and arguably rooted in vanity, lifts my spirts. It’s even better when I use something homemade or all natural, like sunflower seed oil or beets.
This is a picture of my boyfriend on the night of March 20, 2021. I took this in his car while he was taking a vape break. I wanted to photograph him to keep memories of him. I held a blue lighter over the flash to create the blue effect. I took this on my Nikon DSLR.
Letters to a Young Artist is a series of letters written for an imaginary character named BZ. In actuality, the letters are for the readers. The letters are meant to educate, inspire, and encourage the reader. It touches upon “it” factors, common fears, and means of success for artists of all kinds. I think that’s what makes it an important tool, the fact that the book isn’t tailored to only one type of artist. This is definitely a book I’m going to keep so that I can read specific parts for extra motivation or clarity.
I took these photographs at my house in March 2021. They are images of my 1.5 year old nephew playing. Some of this favorite things to do are play on his alphabet mat, play with his toy truck, and explore plants. I wanted to photograph him in these situations so that my sister can have them for memories. These were taken with my Nikon DSLR.
I took these photographs on March 17th, 2021. They are up close shots of a bush in my front yard. I decided to photograph these parts of the bush because I like the colors. These were taken with my Nikon DSLR.
This is my boyfriend. The photograph on the left was taken in a parking lot on Valentine’s Day 2021. The photograph on the right was taken in his room on the same day. I photographed him because I like to keep memories of my loved ones. These were taken on my Sony point and shoot camera.
